Beautiful and youthful skin

Let’s begin by exploring one way of how I use my oils every day – on my face and body.

Lavender, Frankincense, Copaiba all have amazing qualities and effects on the skin.  Myrrh, Geranium and Cedarwood – and of course Rose oil -  are also highly prized.

Copaiba: moisturize, tone and rejuvenate sagging and tired looking skin to make it firmer and more elastic.

If you want to feel and look more youthful, then this trio is a must! And you’ll smell amazing of course! I combine these with my favourite carrier oils including coconut, jojoba, avocado and rosehip.

And like all essential oils, each of them has many other qualities, so while you’re using them on your face and body you’ll be getting the benefits of the emotional aspects too at the same time!

And doubles as an incredible eye serum – I’ll share that recipe next!

Recipe - Eye serum

Want a simple but effective eye serum? Combine these 3 essential oils to your favourite carrier oil and save yourself $$ in comparison to commercial serums.

You know exactly what’s in it, all without nasty chemicals such as Propylene Glycol that is commonly used as anti-freeze ingredient in both food and personal care products, or Parabens which are used as preservatives but mimic the action of female hormones - say WHAT?!

These chemicals play havoc with your endocrine system, and this system produces hormones that regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep, and mood, among other things. So you can see how tinkering with these may lead to serious health issues?

  • 2 drops Lavender

  • 2 drops Frankincense

  • 2 drops Copaiba

Combine with 1 teaspoon of your favourite carrier oil (coconut, jojoba, avocado, rosehip, argan)

Other skin uses

Let’s explore some other common uses for the skin and introduce you to some of the pre-made essential oil blends.

  • Purification is a blend that contains Citronella, Lemongrass and Tea Tree  (also known as Melaleuca) among others. Not only is this blend great for neutralising odours, but it’s particularly great to apply on blemishes or oily skin, and when go for a walk or hike and have those little annoyances!

  • Melrose is a blend that again contains Melaleuca, and also Rosemary. Again this is great to have in your natural toolkit especially if you have active little kids that aren’t scared of exploring!

  • Frankincense, Geranium and Myrrh are incredible to minimise the appearance of scars. I love this in my everyday moisturiser, and put extra on any scars or stretch marks.

When I leave my house with the kids, I always make sure I have Lavender and either Purification or Melrose with me!

What’s in your cosmetics

Want to know WHY reducing your chemical exposure and switching to natural personal care products is beneficial?

“Less than 20% of all chemicals in cosmetics have been assessed for safety by the industry’s safety panel, so we just don’t know what they do to us when we use them. Would you fly on an airplane that only inspects 20% of it’s planes?”

One ingredient in particular to watch out for is nanoparticles. These penetrate the skin where they can alter cell DNA. They accumulate and cause serious health issues as the body cannot remove these foreign particles. Problem is, most product and makeup don’t label this, so if it doesn’t say non-nanoparticles specifically then they probably contain nanoparticles.

Young Living does NOT use nanoparticles in their products. Including their Mineral Sunscreen – this is a common product that uses nanoparticle Zinc Oxide.
